| Sunset The purpose of the artifact had been lost long ago. Had it been dropped into the ocean for a reason or by accident? Brought to the surface by the power of the red giant star to evaporate an ocean, there was no one left to tell. |

| Fading The spires were built to remain active for millions of years. And they had. They had lasted until the remnant atmosphere was frozen, but eventually even the spires began to tire and fade. |

| Tendrils The tendrils appeared soon after the sphere cracked. Soon, that is, by their standards of time. The sphere had lasted for centuries before the cracks along the edge finally gave way. |

| Shockwave The growing nebula appeared in the sky day and night, the afterglow of the shock of X- and gamma rays which has ripped across the world a thousand years earlier. A few lights still glowed in the distance, but was anyone home? |

City The Blue Giant was the more impressive member of the binary system, but less important than the small star that kept the planet warm. The tower loomed over the city as it's most impressive building, but was it important? |

| Translucent
Bay The object rose over the bay on the unpredicable timescale only something which seemed to defy gravity could have. A few felt that there was an intelligence at work, but little was in evidence as the object cast a glow across the bay. |

| Patrol
(I) The Nebula had appeared suddenly. Or had appeared to appear suddenly. The Patrol craft rose silently in the microdense atmosphere that had accumulated around the station and proceeded towards their target. |

(II) The shaft poured forth a heavy smoke that congealed as it expanded into the near vaccum around the station. There was little to do but watch and hope the problem was solved before their fuel supplies reached critical. |
