Which
previously unseen characters will make shocking debuts on The AnteriorLobe
Show? Who will be taunted in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse? What
exciting new plot twists are due to be unravelled? Will any of this
make something with talking dinosaurs appear even less plausible?
If
you're looking for answers then...well, this isn't quite the place
to look. All you'll see here are brief updates on the show. Sorry.

Non-Canonical
success! The good news...well, at least for me, is that Non-Canonical,
the 6-Panel Cartoon version of The
AnteriorLobe Show will indeed be appearing on the
comics portion of the Renderosity Front Page!
Thus
far I've put together five of these, plus one 3-Panel comic which
I just posted to the Comics Corner forum at Renderosity.
In
other news I will be away for a couple of weeks without any computer
access. So, that means further episodes of The
AnteriorLobe Show - and that will include numerous
episodes in the "Vorpal Cup" arc - will
have to wait for the end of October. Is that good or bad? Only you
know... |

Non-Canonical.
That's the name for a new comic I have been working on which, hopefully,
will end up on the Renderosity comics page. I've completed two of
these and have the basic set/props done for the third. There are
only six panels per comic, and the panels themselves are small,
so making the renders for the third comic shouldn't take too long.
In principle I can easily finish it tonight. I have scripts for
about four or five or six others, so coming up with the ideas isn't
a problem now.
The
Renderosity comics page people need five comics to look at before
they decide whether it can appear on the page. To be honest I'm
not worried about that, but I suppose, one never knows.
Oh,
I probably should add that Non-Canonical is about
all sorts of wacky moments behind the scenes of The
AnteriorLobe Show. That means lots of Gallimimus,
some Victoria, and even an appearence by Lewis, the Apatosaur, who
has yet to show up in the actual AnteriorLobe Show.
As
for that (The AnteriorLobe Show)
I have also sketched out the basic plots for the next nine or ten
episodes (or thirteen or fourteen, depending on how I cut them).
These contain the whole "Vorpal Cup" arc which
has only been seen once in episode 3.
Hopefully
I will be able to fix up some of the "about the show"
items on the main show page, but it might be a while (like a month
or so) before I get around to making Episode 5. |

Good
grief, has it really been a month since Episode 3 was finished?
Hopefully I can do these faster in the future. Hopefully. I wouldn't
count on it, though.
At
any rate, Episode 4 is done and ready for viewing!
I'm
not sure if I like this one, to be honest. I think it is as funny
as Episode 3 (or as funny as I can get), but some of the poses for
Victoria are stilted or off, although I'm not sure if I could have
improved them with even more time. Gallimimus is easy to pose, though.
For one thing there isn't much to move around, and his "pose"
is derived from what he is saying in a way that isn't
the case for Victoria.
Anyhoo...I
am going to make a second attempt to create a short enough tale
that I can compress it into 9 panels and see if Renderosity will
take it as a comic. I have about a dozen scripts, although no renders
yet, which will help to make sure that the story doesn't go overboard
in length. The last time I tried to make a short version for a comic
I ended up with Epsiode 4. |

Delays
multiply on delays. Some of these have good excuses - a hospital
adventure, my continued failure to get a job. Okay, I suppose it
remains to be seen if the latter is a "good" excuse. But,
work on The AnteriorLobe Show blunders forward.
An
attempt to make some props fast to render an image for the "Free
Crap" pages multiplied into days of work, and an incredibly
complex shot (though not neccessarily a good one). Then I figured
I could use these props to make a short cartoon for Renderosity
-- but, of course, that ballooned in scope. To fit on one page the
dialog text would need to be around 6pt. So, I figured I'd turn
it into a fourth episode of the show which, of course, is itself
taking a lot longer to do than I originally figured.
I would
say about half of the renders for this latest episode are done.
The rest should be easy since a lot of them are just close-ups of
the mysterious props I have been obliquely referring too. Ah, hell.
They're books.
Meanwhile
that image for the "Free Crap" page still needs to be
done. |

Episode
3 is finally done - and its even up for your viewing enjoyment.
Technically it is now August 5, 3:47 AM EST, but I am going to count
this as an August 4 release. Don't try to stop me...I'm just gonna
do it.
Now
that there are three episodes out there the next step is to finish
the extra parts, the bits about the cast members, a links pages,
and the "store." Then with all that done I'll try and
dreg people up to actually look at this crap. |

Progress
has been made on the product Gallimimus is going to use in Episode
3, so that slow down is almost behind us. I'm not sure
if I will try to convert the first part of the show into slides
or render the last bit with Evil Vicky and Styracosaurus.
Either
way, just to sort of prove that something has been done you can
click on this thumbnail and see a quickly thrown together promo
for this episode. Just don't expect this to match very closely with
the actual show.

The
third episode is taking forever. Part of the reason isn't my fault:
my computer crashed. A new RAM module, which had worked fine for
a couple of weeks, went bad. I kept looking for a software error,
which didn't work, and then we were forced to take the machine into
best buy and have it looked at by "The Geek Squad." Humiliating.
On
top of that, and following the fiasco of the "very bad, very
simple" model of a cup being a problem to render correctly,
a second set of "simple" models for the product which
Gallimimus is going to mention in this episode, is also taking forever.
I'm
going to can the planned, over-long Pointless Opening (I have the
raw renders so I guess it will appear later) and try to concentrate
just on the actual show. I need to convert all the raw renders into
slides, and then make some renders of Evil Vicky and Styracosaurus
for the end of the episode.
Originally
I thought that this one would go really fast, maybe a few days.
In yet another way, I am an idiot. |

The
third episode is running very late, mainly because I am a nervous
wreck. But that's another story. This story - the third episode
- is due to introduce the Vorpal Cup, a very bad model. (Bad on
purpose.) Unfortunately, due to the fact that DAZ|Studio auto-smooths
imported objects, the Vorpal cup doesn't look quite as bad as it
should. I was going to use an unsmooted render from Bryce as a cut-n-paste
for the DAZ renders. That's doable, but ends up being very time
consuming, so, I've just left the Vorpal Cup as it - mediocre instead
of truely bad - and rendered it at the same time as Victoria and
Gallimimus in DAZ.
Also
delays in selecting Victoria's outfit for this episode (which is
very sad for a number of reasons, I know, so back off!), finally
solved with the purchase of the V3 Ultra Catsuit. Special thanks
to Mrs. AnteriorLobe for lettine me squander dimishing cash reserves
on digital clothes.
And
more delays because I overdid the Pointless Opening (a feature which
started with Episode 2 and which I sort of liked, even if it is,
well, pointless.)
At
the moment I have started to make the raw renders for the third
episode itself, and am hoping to get the whole thing put together
by mid-week. Or at least by the end of the week. |
